2Kgs.11 [1] Now when Athali'ah the mother of Ahazi'ah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal family. [2] But Jehosh'eba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahazi'ah, took Jo'ash the son of Ahazi'ah, and stole him away from among the king's sons who were about to be slain, and she put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. Thus she hid him from Athali'ah, so that he was not slain; [3] and he remained with her six years, hid in the house of the LORD, while Athali'ah reigned over the land. [4] But in the seventh year Jehoi'ada sent and brought the captains of the Carites and of the guards, and had them come to him in the house of the LORD; and he made a covenant with them and put them under oath in the house of the LORD, and he showed them the king's son. [5] And he commanded them, "This is the thing that you shall do: one third of you, those who come off duty on the sabbath and guard the king's house [6] (another third being at the gate Sur and a third at the gate behind the guards), shall guard the palace; [7] and the two divisions of you, which come on duty in force on the sabbath and guard the house of the LORD, [8] shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand; and whoever approaches the ranks is to be slain. Be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in." [9] The captains did according to all that Jehoi'ada the priest commanded, and each brought his men who were to go off duty on the sabbath, with those who were to come on duty on the sabbath, and came to Jehoi'ada the priest. [10] And the priest delivered to the captains the spears and shields that had been King David's, which were in the house of the LORD; [11] and the guards stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, from the south side of the house to the north side of the house, around the altar and the house. [12] Then he brought out the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they proclaimed him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, "Long live the king!" [13] When Athali'ah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she went into the house of the LORD to the people; [14] and when she looked, there was the king standing by the pillar, according to the custom, and the captains and the trumpeters beside the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets. And Athali'ah rent her clothes, and cried, "Treason! Treason!" [15] Then Jehoi'ada the priest commanded the captains who were set over the army, "Bring her out between the ranks; and slay with the sword any one who follows her." For the priest said, "Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD." [16] So they laid hands on her; and she went through the horses' entrance to the king's house, and there she was slain. [17] And Jehoi'ada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and people, that they should be the LORD's people; and also between the king and the people. [18] Then all the people of the land went to the house of Ba'al, and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces, and they slew Mattan the priest of Ba'al before the altars. And the priest posted watchmen over the house of the LORD. [19] And he took the captains, the Carites, the guards, and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD, marching through the gate of the guards to the king's house. And he took his seat on the throne of the kings. [20] So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet after Athali'ah had been slain with the sword at the king's house. [21] Jeho'ash was seven years old when he began to reign.	11 장 [1] 아하시야의 모친 아달랴가 그 아들의 죽은 것을 보고 일어나 왕의 씨를 진멸하였으나 [2] 요람왕의 딸 아하시야의 누이 여호세바가 아하시야의 아들 요아스를 왕자들의 죽임을 당하는 중에서 도적하여 내고 저와 그 유모를 침실에 숨겨 아달랴를 피하여 죽임을 당치 않게 한지라 [3] 요아스가 저와 함께 여호와의 전에 육년을 숨어 있는 동안에 아달랴가 나라를 다스렸더라 [4] 제 칠년에 여호야다가 보내어 가리 사람의 백부장들과 호위병의 백부장들을 불러 데리고 여호와의 전으로 들어가서 저희와 언약을 세우고 저희로 여호와의 전에서 맹세케 한 후에 왕자를 보이고 [5] 명하여 가로되 너희의 행할 것이 이러하니 안식일에 입번한 너희중 삼분 일은 왕궁을 주의하여 지키고 [6] 삼분 일은 수르문에 있고 삼분일은 호위대 뒤에 있는 문에 있어서 이와 같이 왕궁을 주의하여 지켜 방어하고 [7] 안식일에 출번하는 너희중 두 대는 여호와의 전을 주의하여 지켜 왕을 호위하되 [8] 너희는 각각 손에 병기를 잡고 왕을 호위하며 무릇 너희 반열을 침범하는 자는 죽이고 왕의 출입할 때에 시위할지니라 [9] 백부장들이 이에 제사장 여호야다의 모든 명대로 행하여 각기 관할하는 바 안식일에 입번할 자와 출번할 자를 거느리고 제사장 여호야다에게 나아오매 [10] 제사장이 여호와의 전에 있는 다윗왕의 창과 방패를 백부장들에게 주니 [11] 호위병이 각각 손에 병기를 잡고 왕을 호위하되 전 우편에서부터 전 좌편까지 단과 전 곁에 서고 [12] 여호야다가 왕자를 인도하여 내어 면류관을 씌우며 율법 책을 주고 기름을 부어 왕을 삼으매 무리가 박수하며 왕의 만세를 부르니라 [13] 아달랴가 호위병과 백성의 소리를 듣고 여호와의 전에 들어가서 백성에게 이르러 [14] 보매 왕이 규례대로 대 위에 섰고 장관들과 나팔수가 왕의 곁에 모셨으며 온 국민이 즐거워하여 나팔을 부는지라 아달랴가 옷을 찢으며 외치되 반역이로다 반역이로다 하매 [15] 제사장 여호야다가 군대를 거느린 백부장들에게 명하여 가로되 반열 밖으로 몰아내라 무릇 저를 따르는 자는 칼로 죽이라 하니 제사장의 이 말은 여호와의 전에서는 저를 죽이지 말라 함이라 [16] 이에 저의 길을 열어주매 저가 왕궁 말 다니는 길로 통과하다가 거기서 죽임을 당하였더라 [17] 여호야다가 왕과 백성으로 여호와와 언약을 세워 여호와의 백성이 되게 하고 왕과 백성 사이에도 언약을 세우게 하매 [18] 온 국민이 바알의 당으로 가서 그 당을 훼파하고 그 단들과 우상들을 깨뜨리고 그 단 앞에서 바알의 제사장 맛단을 죽이니라 제사장이 관리들을 세워 여호와의 전을 수직하게 하고 [19] 또 백부장들과 가리 사람과 호위병과 온 국민을 거느리고 왕을 인도하여 여호와의 전에서 내려와서 호위병의 문 길로 말미암아 왕궁에 이르매 저가 왕의 보좌에 앉으니 [20] 온 국민이 즐거워하고 성중이 평온하더라 아달랴를 무리가 왕궁에서 칼로 죽였었더라 [21] 요아스가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 칠세였더라
2Kgs.12 [1] In the seventh year of Jehu Jeho'ash began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zib'iah of Beer-sheba. [2] And Jeho'ash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all his days, because Jehoi'ada the priest instructed him. [3] Nevertheless the high places were not taken away; the people continued to sacrifice and burn incense on the high places. [4] Jeho'ash said to the priests, "All the money of the holy things which is brought into the house of the LORD, the money for which each man is assessed -- the money from the assessment of persons -- and the money which a man's heart prompts him to bring into the house of the LORD, [5] let the priests take, each from his acquaintance; and let them repair the house wherever any need of repairs is discovered." [6] But by the twenty-third year of King Jeho'ash the priests had made no repairs on the house. [7] Therefore King Jeho'ash summoned Jehoi'ada the priest and the other priests and said to them, "Why are you not repairing the house? Now therefore take no more money from your acquaintances, but hand it over for the repair of the house." [8] So the priests agreed that they should take no more money from the people, and that they should not repair the house. [9] Then Jehoi'ada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar on the right side as one entered the house of the LORD; and the priests who guarded the threshold put in it all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD. [10] And whenever they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king's secretary and the high priest came up and they counted and tied up in bags the money that was found in the house of the LORD. [11] Then they would give the money that was weighed out into the hands of the workmen who had the oversight of the house of the LORD; and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked upon the house of the LORD, [12] and to the masons and the stonecutters, as well as to buy timber and quarried stone for making repairs on the house of the LORD, and for any outlay upon the repairs of the house. [13] But there were not made for the house of the LORD basins of silver, snuffers, bowls, trumpets, or any vessels of gold, or of silver, from the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, [14] for that was given to the workmen who were repairing the house of the LORD with it. [15] And they did not ask an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to pay out to the workmen, for they dealt honestly. [16] The money from the guilt offerings and the money from the sin offerings was not brought into the house of the LORD; it belonged to the priests. [17] At that time Haz'ael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath, and took it. But when Haz'ael set his face to go up against Jerusalem, [18] Jeho'ash king of Judah took all the votive gifts that Jehosh'aphat and Jeho'ram and Ahazi'ah, his fathers, the kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own votive gifts, and all the gold that was found in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent these to Haz'ael king of Syria. Then Haz'ael went away from Jerusalem. [19] Now the rest of the acts of Jo'ash, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? [20] His servants arose and made a conspiracy, and slew Jo'ash in the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla. [21] It was Jo'zacar the son of Shim'e-ath and Jeho'zabad the son of Shomer, his servants, who struck him down, so that he died. And they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Amazi'ah his son reigned in his stead.	12 장 [1] 예후의 칠년에 요아스가 위에 올라 예루살렘에서 사십년을 치리 하니라 그 모친의 이름은 시비아라 브엘세바 사람이더라 [2] 요아스가 제사장 여호야다의 교훈을 받을 동안에 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으되 [3] 오직 산당을 제하지 아니하였으므로 백성이 오히려 산당에서 제사하며 분향하였더라 [4] 요아스가 제사장들에게 이르되 무릇 여호와의 전에 거룩하게 하여 드리는 은 곧 사람의 통용하는 은이나 각 사람의 몸값으로 드리는 은이나 자원하여 여호와의 전에 드리는 모든 은을 [5] 제사장들이 각각 아는 자에게서 받아 들여서 전의 어느 곳이든지 퇴락한 것을 보거든 그것으로 수리하라 하였더니 [6] 요아스왕 이십 삼년에 이르도록 제사장들이 오히려 전의 퇴락한 데를 수리하지 아니하였는지라 [7] 요아스왕이 대제사장 여호야다와 제사장들을 불러서 이르되 너희가 어찌하여 전의 퇴락한 데를 수리하지 아니하였느냐 이제부터는 너희 아는 사람에게서 은을 받지 말고 저희로 전 퇴락한 데를 위하여 드리게 하라 [8] 제사장들이 다시는 백성에게 은을 받지도 아니하고 전 퇴락한 것을 수리하지도 아니하기로 응락하니라 [9] 제사장 여호야다가 한 궤를 취하여 그 뚜껑에 구멍을 뚫어 여호와의 전문 어귀 우편 곧 단 옆에 두매 무릇 여호와의 전에 가져오는 은을 다 문을 지키는 제사장들이 그 궤에 넣더라 [10] 이에 그 궤 가운데 은이 많은 것을 보면 왕의 서기와 대제사장이 올라와서 여호와의 전에 있는대로 그 은을 계수하여 봉하고 [11] 그 달아본 은을 일하는 자 곧 여호와의 전을 맡은 자의 손에 붙이면 저희는 또 여호와의 전을 수리하는 목수와 건축하는 자들에게 주고 [12] 또 미장이와 석수에게 주고 또 여호와의 전 퇴락한 데를 수리할 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사게 하며 그 전을 수리할 모든 물건을 위하여 쓰게 하였으되 [13] 여호와의 전에 드린 그 은으로 그 전의 은대접이나 불집게나 주발이나 나팔이나 아무 금그릇이나 은그릇을 만들지 아니하고 [14] 오직 그 은을 일하는 자에게 주어 그것으로 여호와의 전을 수리하게 하였으며 [15] 또 그 은을 받아 일군에게 주는 사람들과 회계하지 아니하였으니 이는 성실히 일을 하였음이라 [16] 속건제의 은과 속죄제의 은은 여호와의 전에 드리지 아니하고 제사장에게 돌렸더라 [17] 때에 아람 왕 하사엘이 올라와서 가드를 쳐서 취하고 예루살렘을 향하여 올라오고자 한고로 [18] 유다 왕 요아스가 그 열조 유다 왕 여호사밧과 여호람과 아하시야가 구별하여 드린 모든 성물과 자기가 구별하여 드린 성물과 여호와의 전 곳간과 왕궁에 있는 금을 다 취하여 아람 왕 하사엘에게 보내었더니 하사엘이 예루살렘에서 떠나갔더라 [19] 요아스의 남은 사적과 그 모든 행한 것은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 [20] 요아스의 신복들이 일어나서 모반하여 실라로 내려가는 길 가의 밀로궁에서 저를 죽였고 [21] 저를 쳐서 죽인 신복은 시므앗의 아들 요사갈과 소멜의 아들 여호사바드이었더라 저는 다윗성에 그 열조와 함께 장사되고 그 아들 아마샤가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
2Kgs.13 [1] In the twenty-third year of Jo'ash the son of Ahazi'ah, king of Judah, Jeho'ahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Sama'ria, and he reigned seventeen years. [2] He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin; he did not depart from them. [3] And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he gave them continually into the hand of Haz'ael king of Syria and into the hand of Ben-ha'dad the son of Haz'ael. [4] Then Jeho'ahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them. [5] (Therefore the LORD gave Israel a savior, so that they escaped from the hand of the Syrians; and the people of Israel dwelt in their homes as formerly. [6] Nevertheless they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jerobo'am, which he made Israel to sin, but walked in them; and the Ashe'rah also remained in Sama'ria.) [7] For there was not left to Jeho'ahaz an army of more than fifty horsemen and ten chariots and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them and made them like the dust at threshing. [8] Now the rest of the acts of Jeho'ahaz and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? [9] So Jeho'ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Sama'ria; and Jo'ash his son reigned in his stead. [10] In the thirty-seventh year of Jo'ash king of Judah Jeho'ash the son of Jeho'ahaz began to reign over Israel in Sama'ria, and he reigned sixteen years. [11] He also did what was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from all the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin, but he walked in them. [12] Now the rest of the acts of Jo'ash, and all that he did, and the might with which he fought against Amazi'ah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? [13] So Jo'ash slept with his fathers, and Jerobo'am sat upon his throne; and Jo'ash was buried in Sama'ria with the kings of Israel. [14] Now when Eli'sha had fallen sick with the illness of which he was to die, Jo'ash king of Israel went down to him, and wept before him, crying, "My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!" [15] And Eli'sha said to him, "Take a bow and arrows"; so he took a bow and arrows. [16] Then he said to the king of Israel, "Draw the bow"; and he drew it. And Eli'sha laid his hands upon the king's hands. [17] And he said, "Open the window eastward"; and he opened it. Then Eli'sha said, "Shoot"; and he shot. And he said, "The LORD's arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria! For you shall fight the Syrians in Aphek until you have made an end of them." [18] And he said, "Take the arrows"; and he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, "Strike the ground with them"; and he struck three times, and stopped. [19] Then the man of God was angry with him, and said, "You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Syria until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Syria only three times." [20] So Eli'sha died, and they buried him. Now bands of Moabites used to invade the land in the spring of the year. [21] And as a man was being buried, lo, a marauding band was seen and the man was cast into the grave of Eli'sha; and as soon as the man touched the bones of Eli'sha, he revived, and stood on his feet. [22] Now Haz'ael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jeho'ahaz. [23] But the LORD was gracious to them and had compassion on them, and he turned toward them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them; nor has he cast them from his presence until now. [24] When Haz'ael king of Syria died, Ben-ha'dad his son became king in his stead. [25] Then Jeho'ash the son of Jeho'ahaz took again from Ben-ha'dad the son of Haz'ael the cities which he had taken from Jeho'ahaz his father in war. Three times Jo'ash defeated him and recovered the cities of Israel.	13 장 [1] 유다 왕 아하시야의 아들 요아스의 이십 삼년에 예후의 아들 여호아하스가 사마리아에서 이스라엘 왕이 되어 십 칠년을 치리하며 [2] 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여 이스라엘로 범죄케 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 죄를 좇고 떠나지 아니하였으므로 [3] 여호와께서 이스라엘을 향하여 노를 발하사 늘 아람 왕 하사엘의 손과 그 아들 벤하닷의 손에 붙이셨더니 [4] 아람 왕이 이스라엘을 학대하므로 여호아하스가 여호와께 간구하매 여호와께서 들으셨으니 이는 저희의 학대 받음을 보셨음이라 [5] 여호와께서 이에 구원자를 이스라엘에게 주시매 이스라엘 자손이 아람 사람의 손에서 벗어나 전과 같이 자기 장막에 거하였으나 [6] 저희가 이스라엘로 범죄케 한 여로보암 집의 죄에서 떠나지 아니하고 좇아 행하며 또 사마리아에 아세라 목상을 그저 두었더라 [7] 아람 왕이 여호아하스의 백성을 진멸하여 타작마당의 티끌같이 되게 하고 마병 오십과 병거 십승과 보병 일만 외에는 여호아하스에게 남겨두지 아니하였더라 [8] 여호아하스의 남은 사적과 모든 행한 것과 그 권력은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 [9] 여호아하스가 그 열조와 함께 자매 사마리아에 장사되고 그 아들 요아스가 대신하여 왕이 되니라 [10] 유다 왕 요아스의 삼십 칠년에 여호아하스의 아들 요아스가 사마리아에서 이스라엘 왕이 되어 십륙년을 치리하며 [11] 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여 이스라엘로 범죄케 한 느밧의 아들 여로보암의 모든 죄에서 떠나지 아니하고 좇아 행하였더라 [12] 요아스의 남은 사적과 무릇 행한 일과 유다 왕 아마샤와 싸운 권력은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 [13] 요아스가 그 열조와 함께 자매 이스라엘 왕들과 함께 사마리아에 장사되고 여로보암이 그 위에 앉으니라 [14] 엘리사가 죽을 병이 들매 이스라엘 왕 요아스가 저에게로 내려가서 그 얼굴에 눈물을 흘리며 가로되 내 아버지여 내 아버지여 이스라엘의 병거와 마병이여 하매 [15] 엘리사가 저에게 이르되 활과 살들을 취하소서 활과 살들을 취하매 [16] 또 이스라엘 왕에게 이르되 왕의 손으로 활을 잡으소서 곧 손으로 잡으매 엘리사가 자기 손으로 왕의 손을 안찰하고 [17] 가로되 동편 창을 여소서 곧 열매 엘리사가 가로되 쏘소서 곧 쏘매 엘리사가 가로되 이는 여호와의 구원의 살 곧 아람에 대한 구원의 살이니 왕이 아람 사람을 진멸하도록 아벡에서 치리이다 [18] 또 가로되 살들을 취하소서 곧 취하매 엘리사가 또 이스라엘 왕에게 이르되 땅을 치소서 이에 세번 치고 그친지라 [19] 하나님의 사람이 노하여 가로되 왕이 오륙번을 칠 것이니이다 그리하였더면 왕이 아람을 진멸하도록 쳤으리이다 그런즉 이제는 왕이 아람을 세번만 치리이다 하니라 [20] 엘리사가 죽으매 장사하였더니 해가 바뀌매 모압 적당이 지경을 범한지라 [21] 마침 사람을 장사하는 자들이 그 적당을 보고 그 시체를 엘리사의 묘실에 들이던지매 시체가 엘리사의 뼈에 닿자 곧 회생하여 일어섰더라 [22] 여호아하스왕의 시대에 아람왕 하사엘이 항상 이스라엘을 학대하였으나 [23] 여호와께서 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱으로 더불어 세우신 언약을 인하여 이스라엘에게 은혜를 베풀어 긍휼히 여기시며 권고하사 멸하기를 즐겨 아니하시고 이때까지 자기 앞에서 쫓아내지 아니 하셨더라 [24] 아람 왕 하사엘이 죽고 그 아들 벤하닷이 대신하여 왕이 되매 [25] 여호아하스의 아들 요아스가 하사엘의 아들 벤하닷의 손에서 두 어 성읍을 회복하였으니 이 성읍들은 자기 부친 여호아하스가 전쟁중에 빼앗겼던 것이라 요아스가 벤하닷을 세번 쳐서 파하고 이스라엘 성읍들을 회복하였더라
2Kgs.14 [1] In the second year of Jo'ash the son of Jo'ahaz, king of Israel, Amazi'ah the son of Jo'ash, king of Judah, began to reign. [2] He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jeho-ad'din of Jerusalem. [3] And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like David his father; he did in all things as Jo'ash his father had done. [4] But the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. [5] And as soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand he killed his servants who had slain the king his father. [6] But he did not put to death the children of the murderers; according to what is written in the book of the law of Moses, where the LORD commanded, "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, or the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin." [7] He killed ten thousand E'domites in the Valley of Salt and took Sela by storm, and called it Jok'the-el, which is its name to this day. [8] Then Amazi'ah sent messengers to Jeho'ash the son of Jeho'ahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us look one another in the face." [9] And Jeho'ash king of Israel sent word to Amazi'ah king of Judah, "A thistle on Lebanon sent to a cedar on Lebanon, saying, `Give your daughter to my son for a wife'; and a wild beast of Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle. [10] You have indeed smitten Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be content with your glory, and stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?" [11] But Amazi'ah would not listen. So Jeho'ash king of Israel went up, and he and Amazi'ah king of Judah faced one another in battle at Beth-she'mesh, which belongs to Judah. [12] And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his home. [13] And Jeho'ash king of Israel captured Amazi'ah king of Judah, the son of Jeho'ash, son of Ahazi'ah, at Beth-she'mesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for four hundred cubits, from the E'phraim Gate to the Corner Gate. [14] And he seized all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the king's house, also hostages, and he returned to Sama'ria. [15] Now the rest of the acts of Jeho'ash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amazi'ah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? [16] And Jeho'ash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Sama'ria with the kings of Israel; and Jerobo'am his son reigned in his stead. [17] Amazi'ah the son of Jo'ash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jeho'ash son of Jeho'ahaz, king of Israel. [18] Now the rest of the deeds of Amazi'ah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? [19] And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there. [20] And they brought him upon horses; and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David. [21] And all the people of Judah took Azari'ah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amazi'ah. [22] He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers. [23] In the fifteenth year of Amazi'ah the son of Jo'ash, king of Judah, Jerobo'am the son of Jo'ash, king of Israel, began to reign in Sama'ria, and he reigned forty-one years. [24] And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from all the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin. [25] He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath as far as the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amit'tai, the prophet, who was from Gath-he'pher. [26] For the LORD saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter, for there was none left, bond or free, and there was none to help Israel. [27] But the LORD had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jerobo'am the son of Jo'ash. [28] Now the rest of the acts of Jerobo'am, and all that he did, and his might, how he fought, and how he recovered for Israel Damascus and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 2Kgs.15 [1] In the twenty-seventh year of Jerobo'am king of Israel Azari'ah the son of Amazi'ah, king of Judah, began to reign. [2] He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jecoli'ah of Jerusalem. [3] And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Amazi'ah had done. [4] Nevertheless the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. [5] And the LORD smote the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death, and he dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham the king's son was over the household, governing the people of the land. [6] Now the rest of the acts of Azari'ah, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? [7] And Azari'ah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Jotham his son reigned in his stead. [8] In the thirty-eighth year of Azari'ah king of Judah Zechari'ah the son of Jerobo'am reigned over Israel in Sama'ria six months. [9] And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done. He did not depart from the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin. [10] Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and struck him down at Ibleam, and killed him, and reigned in his stead. [11] Now the rest of the deeds of Zechari'ah, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. [12] (This was the promise of the LORD which he gave to Jehu, "Your sons shall sit upon the throne of Israel to the fourth generation." And so it came to pass.) [13] Shallum the son of Jabesh began to reign in the thirty-ninth year of Uzzi'ah king of Judah, and he reigned one month in Sama'ria. [14] Then Men'ahem the son of Gadi came up from Tirzah and came to Sama'ria, and he struck down Shallum the son of Jabesh in Sama'ria and slew him, and reigned in his stead. [15] Now the rest of the deeds of Shallum, and the conspiracy which he made, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. [16] At that time Men'ahem sacked Tappuah and all who were in it and its territory from Tirzah on; because they did not open it to him, therefore he sacked it, and he ripped up all the women in it who were with child. [17] In the thirty-ninth year of Azari'ah king of Judah Men'ahem the son of Gadi began to reign over Israel, and he reigned ten years in Sama'ria. [18] And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart all his days from all the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin. [19] Pul the king of Assyria came against the land; and Men'ahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that he might help him to confirm his hold of the royal power. [20] Men'ahem exacted the money from Israel, that is, from all the wealthy men, fifty shekels of silver from every man, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and did not stay there in the land. [22] And Men'ahem slept with his fathers, and Pekahi'ah his son reigned in his stead. [23] In the fiftieth year of Azari'ah king of Judah Pekahi'ah the son of Men'ahem began to reign over Israel in Sama'ria, and he reigned two years. [24] And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not turn away from the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin. [25] And Pekah the son of Remali'ah, his captain, conspired against him with fifty men of the Gileadites, and slew him in Sama'ria, in the citadel of the king's house; he slew him, and reigned in his stead. [26] Now the rest of the deeds of Pekahi'ah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. [27] In the fifty-second year of Azari'ah king of Judah Pekah the son of Remali'ah began to reign over Israel in Sama'ria, and reigned twenty years. [28] And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin. [29] In the days of Pekah king of Israel Tig'lath-pile'ser king of Assyria came and captured I'jon, A'bel-beth-ma'acah, Jan-o'ah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naph'tali; and he carried the people captive to Assyria. [30] Then Hoshe'a the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekah the son of Remali'ah, and struck him down, and slew him, and reigned in his stead, in the twentieth year of Jotham the son of Uzzi'ah. [31] Now the rest of the acts of Pekah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. [32] In the second year of Pekah the son of Remali'ah, king of Israel, Jotham the son of Uzzi'ah, king of Judah, began to reign. [33] He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jeru'sha the daughter of Zadok. [34] And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzzi'ah had done. [35] Nevertheless the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD. [37] In those days the LORD began to send Rezin the king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remali'ah against Judah. 2Kgs.16 [1] In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remali'ah, Ahaz the son of Jotham, king of Judah, began to reign. [2] Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD his God, as his father David had done, [3] but he walked in the way of the kings of Israel. He even burned his son as an offering, according to the abominable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. [4] And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree. [5] Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remali'ah, king of Israel, came up to wage war on Jerusalem, and they besieged Ahaz but could not conquer him. [6] At that time the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom, and drove the men of Judah from Elath; and the E'domites came to Elath, where they dwell to this day. [7] So Ahaz sent messengers to Tig'lath-pile'ser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up, and rescue me from the hand of the king of Syria and from the hand of the king of Israel, who are attacking me." [8] Ahaz also took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent a present to the king of Assyria. [9] And the king of Assyria hearkened to him; the king of Assyria marched up against Damascus, and took it, carrying its people captive to Kir, and he killed Rezin. [10] When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tig'lath-pile'ser king of Assyria, he saw the altar that was at Damascus. And King Ahaz sent to Uri'ah the priest a model of the altar, and its pattern, exact in all its details. [11] And Uri'ah the priest built the altar; in accordance with all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Uri'ah the priest made it, before King Ahaz arrived from Damascus. [12] And when the king came from Damascus, the king viewed the altar. Then the king drew near to the altar, and went up on it, [13] and burned his burnt offering and his cereal offering, and poured his drink offering, and threw the blood of his peace offerings upon the altar. [14] And the bronze altar which was before the LORD he removed from the front of the house, from the place between his altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of his altar. [15] And King Ahaz commanded Uri'ah the priest, saying, "Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening cereal offering, and the king's burnt offering, and his cereal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their cereal offering, and their drink offering; and throw upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by." [16] Uri'ah the priest did all this, as King Ahaz commanded. [17] And King Ahaz cut off the frames of the stands, and removed the laver from them, and he took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pediment of stone. [18] And the covered way for the sabbath which had been built inside the palace, and the outer entrance for the king he removed from the house of the LORD, because of the king of Assyria. [20] And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Hezeki'ah his son reigned in his stead.	16 장 [1] 르말랴의 아들 베가 십 칠년에 유다 왕 요담의 아들 아하스가 왕이 되니 [2] 아하스가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십세라 예루살렘에서 십 륙년을 치리하였으나 그 조상 다윗과 같지 아니하여 그 하나님 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행치 아니하고 [3] 이스라엘 열왕의 길로 행하며 또 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 이방 사람의 가증한 일을 본받아 자기 아들을 불 가운데로 지나가게 하며 [4] 또 산당과 작은 산 위와 모든 푸른 나무 아래서 제사를 드리며 분향하였더라 [5] 이 때에 아람 왕 르신과 이스라엘 왕 르말랴의 아들 베가가 예루살렘에 올라와서 싸우려 하여 아하스를 에워쌌으나 이기지 못하니라 [6] 당시에 아람 왕 르신이 엘랏을 회복하여 아람에 돌리고 유다 사람을 엘랏에서 쫓아내었고 아람 사람이 엘랏에 이르러 거하여 오늘날까지 이르렀더라 [7] 아하스가 앗수르 왕 디글랏 빌레셀에게 사자를 보내어 이르되 나는 왕의 신복이요 왕의 아들이라 이제 아람 왕과 이스라엘 왕이 나를 치니 청컨대 올라와서 나를 그 손에서 구원하소서 하고 [8] 여호와의 전과 왕궁 곳간에 있는 은금을 취하여 앗수르 왕에게 예물로 보내었더니 [9] 앗수르 왕이 그 청을 듣고 곧 올라와서 다메섹을 쳐서 취하여 그 백성을 사로잡아 길로 옮기고 또 르신을 죽였더라 [10] 아하스왕이 앗수르 왕 디글랏 빌레셀을 만나러 다메섹에 갔다가 거기 있는 단을 보고 드디어 그 구조와 제도의 식양을 그려 제사장 우리야에게 보내었더니 [11] 아하스왕이 다메섹에서 돌아오기 전에 제사장 우리야가 아하스왕이 다메섹에서 보낸 모든 것대로 단을 만든지라 [12] 왕이 다메섹에서 돌아와서 단을 보고 단 앞에 나아가 그 위에 제사를 드리되 [13] 자기의 번제와 소제를 불사르고 또 전제를 붓고 수은제 짐승의 피를 단에 뿌리고 [14] 또 여호와의 앞 곧 전 앞에 있던 놋단을 옮기되 새 단과 여호와 의 전 사이에서 옮겨다가 그 단 북편에 두니라 [15] 아하스왕이 제사장 우리야에게 명하여 가로되 아침 번제와 저녁 소제와 왕의 번제와 그 소제와 모든 국민의 번제와 그 소제와 전제를 다 이 큰 단 위에 불사르고 또 번제물의 피와 다른 제물의 피를 다 그 위에 뿌리고 오직 놋단은 나의 물을 일에 쓰게 하라 하매 [16] 제사장 우리야가 아하스왕의 모든 명대로 행하였더라 [17] 아하스왕이 물두멍 받침의 옆판을 떼어내고 물두멍을 그 자리에서 옮기고 또 놋바다를 놋소 위에서 내려다가 돌판 위에 두며 [18] 또 안식일에 쓰기 위하여 성전에 건축한 낭실과 왕이 밖에서 들어가는 낭실을 앗수르 왕을 인하여 여호와의 전에 옮겨 세웠더라 [19] 아하스의 그 남은 사적은 유다왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 [20] 아하스가 그 열조와 함께 자매 다윗성에 그 열조와 함께 장사되고 그 아들 히스기야가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
2Kgs.17 [1] In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah Hoshe'a the son of Elah began to reign in Sama'ria over Israel, and he reigned nine years. [2] And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him. [3] Against him came up Shalmane'ser king of Assyria; and Hoshe'a became his vassal, and paid him tribute. [4] But the king of Assyria found treachery in Hoshe'a; for he had sent messengers to So, king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year; therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison. [5] Then the king of Assyria invaded all the land and came to Sama'ria, and for three years he besieged it. [6] In the ninth year of Hoshe'a the king of Assyria captured Sama'ria, and he carried the Israelites away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. [7] And this was so, because the people of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods [8] and walked in the customs of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel, and in the customs which the kings of Israel had introduced. [9] And the people of Israel did secretly against the LORD their God things that were not right. They built for themselves high places at all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city; [10] they set up for themselves pillars and Ashe'rim on every high hill and under every green tree; [11] and there they burned incense on all the high places, as the nations did whom the LORD carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the LORD to anger, [12] and they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, "You shall not do this." [13] Yet the LORD warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets." [14] But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the LORD their God. [15] They despised his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and the warnings which he gave them. They went after false idols, and became false, and they followed the nations that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had commanded them that they should not do like them. [16] And they forsook all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made for themselves molten images of two calves; and they made an Ashe'rah, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Ba'al. [17] And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings, and used divination and sorcery, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger. [18] Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight; none was left but the tribe of Judah only. [19] Judah also did not keep the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the customs which Israel had introduced. [20] And the LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel, and afflicted them, and gave them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight. [21] When he had torn Israel from the house of David they made Jerobo'am the son of Nebat king. And Jerobo'am drove Israel from following the LORD and made them commit great sin. [22] The people of Israel walked in all the sins which Jerobo'am did; they did not depart from them, [23] until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had spoken by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day. [24] And the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sephar-va'im, and placed them in the cities of Sama'ria instead of the people of Israel; and they took possession of Sama'ria, and dwelt in its cities. [25] And at the beginning of their dwelling there, they did not fear the LORD; therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which killed some of them. [26] So the king of Assyria was told, "The nations which you have carried away and placed in the cities of Sama'ria do not know the law of the god of the land; therefore he has sent lions among them, and behold, they are killing them, because they do not know the law of the god of the land." [27] Then the king of Assyria commanded, "Send there one of the priests whom you carried away thence; and let him go and dwell there, and teach them the law of the god of the land." [28] So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Sama'ria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD. [29] But every nation still made gods of its own, and put them in the shrines of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in the cities in which they dwelt; [30] the men of Babylon made Suc'coth-be'noth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashi'ma, [31] and the Av'vites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sephar'vites burned their children in the fire to Adram'melech and Anam'melech, the gods of Sephar-va'im. [32] They also feared the LORD, and appointed from among themselves all sorts of people as priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the shrines of the high places. [33] So they feared the LORD but also served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away. [34] To this day they do according to the former manner. They do not fear the LORD, and they do not follow the statutes or the ordinances or the law or the commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel. [35] The LORD made a covenant with them, and commanded them, "You shall not fear other gods or bow yourselves to them or serve them or sacrifice to them; [36] but you shall fear the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm; you shall bow yourselves to him, and to him you shall sacrifice. [37] And the statutes and the ordinances and the law and the commandment which he wrote for you, you shall always be careful to do. You shall not fear other gods, [38] and you shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods, [39] but you shall fear the LORD your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies." [40] However they would not listen, but they did according to their former manner. [41] So these nations feared the LORD, and also served their graven images; their children likewise, and their children's children -- as their fathers did, so they do to this day.	17 장 [1] 유다 왕 아하스 십 이년에 엘라의 아들 호세아가 사마리아에서 이스라엘 왕이 되어 구년을 치리하며 [2] 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였으나 그전 이스라엘 여러 왕들과 같이 하지는 아니하였더라 [3] 앗수르 왕 살만에셀이 올라와서 호세아를 친고로 호세아가 신복하여 조공을 드리더니 [4] 저가 애굽 왕 소에게 사자들을 보내고 해마다 하던대로 앗수르 왕에게 조공을 드리지 아니하매 앗수르 왕이 호세아의 배반함을 보고 저를 옥에 금고하여 두고 [5] 올라와서 그 온 땅에 두루 다니고 사마리아로 올라와서 삼년을 에워쌌더라 [6] 호세아 구년에 앗수르 왕이 사마리아를 취하고 이스라엘 사람을 사로잡아 앗수르로 끌어다가 할라와 고산 하볼 하숫가와 메대 사람의 여러 고을에 두었더라 [7] 이 일은 이스라엘 자손이 자기를 애굽에서 인도하여 내사 애굽 왕 바로의 손에서 벗어나게 하신 그 하나님 여호와께 죄를 범하고 또 다른 신들을 경외하며 [8] 여호와께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내신 이방 사람의 규례와 이스라엘 여러 왕의 세운 율례를 행하였음이라 [9] 이스라엘 자손이 가만히 불의를 행하여 그 하나님 여호와를 배역하여 모든 성읍에 망대로부터 견고한 성에 이르도록 산당을 세우고 [10] 모든 산 위에와 모든 푸른 나무 아래에 목상과 아세라상을 세우고 [11] 또 여호와께서 저희 앞에서 물리치신 이방 사람같이 그곳 모든 산당에서 분향하며 또 악을 행하여 여호와를 격노케 하였으며 [12] 또 우상을 섬겼으니 이는 여호와께서 행치 말라 명하신 일이라 [13] 여호와께서 각 선지자와 각 선견자로 이스라엘과 유다를 경계하여 이르시기를 너희는 돌이켜 너희 악한 길에서 떠나 나의 명령과 율례를 지키되 내가 너희 열조에게 명하고 또 나의 종 선지자들로 너희에게 전한 모든 율법대로 행하라 하셨으나 [14] 저희가 듣지 아니하고 그 목을 굳게 하기를 그 하나님 여호와를 믿지 아니하던 저희 열조의 목 같이 하여 [15] 여호와의 율례와 여호와께서 그 열조로 더불어 세우신 언약과 경계하신 말씀을 버리고 허무한 것을 좇아 허망하며 또 여호와께서 명하사 본받지 말라 하신 사면 이방사람을 본받아 [16] 그 하나님 여호와의 모든 명령을 버리고 자기를 위하여 두 송아지 형상을 부어 만들고 또 아세라 목상을 만들고 하늘의 일월 성신을 숭배하며 또 바알을 섬기고 [17] 또 자기 자녀를 불 가운데로 지나가게 하며 복술과 사술을 행하고 스스로 팔려 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하여 그 노를 격발케 하였으므로 [18] 여호와께서 이스라엘을 심히 노하사 그 앞에서 제하시니 유다 지파 외에는 남은 자가 없으니라 [19] 유다도 그 하나님 여호와의 명령을 지키지 아니하고 이스라엘 사람의 세운 율례를 행하였으므로 [20] 여호와께서 이스라엘의 온 족속을 버리사 괴롭게 하시며 노략군의 손에 붙이시고 심지어 그 앞에서 쫓아내시니라 [21] 이스라엘을 다윗의 집에서 찢어 나누시매 저희가 느밧의 아들 여로보암으로 왕을 삼았더니 여로보암이 이스라엘을 몰아 여호와를 떠나고 큰 죄를 범하게 하매 [22] 이스라엘 자손이 여로보암의 행한 모든 죄를 따라 행하여 떠나지 아니하므로 [23] 여호와께서 그 종 모든 선지자로 하신 말씀대로 심지어 이스라엘을 그 앞에서 제하신지라 이스라엘이 고향에서 앗수르에 사로잡혀 가서 오늘까지 미쳤더라 [24] 앗수르 왕이 바벨론과 구다와 아와와 하맛과 스발와임에서 사람을 옮겨다가 이스라엘 자손을 대신하여 사마리아 여러 성읍에 두매 저희가 사마리아를 차지하여 그 여러 성읍에 거하니라 [25] 저희가 처음으로 거기 거할 때에 여호와를 경외치 아니한고로 여호와께서 사자들을 그 가운데 보내시매 몇 사람을 죽인지라 [26] 그러므로 혹이 앗수르 왕에게 고하여 가로되 왕께서 사마리아 여러 성읍에 옮겨 거하게 하신 열방 사람이 그 땅 신의 법을 알지 못하므로 그 신이 사자들을 저희 가운데 보내매 저희를 죽였사오니 이는 저희가 그 땅 신의 법을 알지 못함이니이다 [27] 앗수르 왕이 명하여 가로되 너희는 그곳에서 사로잡아 온 제사장 하나를 그곳으로 데려가되 저로 그 곳에 가서 거하며 그 땅 신의 법으로 무리에게 가르치게 하라 [28] 이에 사마리아에서 사로잡혀 간 제사장 중 하나가 와서 벧엘에 거하며 백성에게 어떻게 여호와 경외할 것을 가르쳤더라 [29] 그러나 각 민족이 각기 자기의 신상들을 만들어 사마리아 사람의 지은 여러 산당에 두되 각 민족이 자기의 거한 성읍에서 그렇게 하여 [30] 바벨론 사람들은 숙곳브놋을 만들었고 굿 사람들은 네르갈을 만들었고 하맛 사람들은 아시마를 만들었고 [31] 아와 사람들은 닙하스와 다르닥을 만들었고 스발와임 사람들은 그 자녀를 불살라 그 신 아드람멜렉과 아남멜렉에게 드렸으며 [32] 저희가 또 여호와를 경외하여 자기 중에서 사람을 산당의 제사장으로 택하여 그 산당에서 자기를 위하여 제사를 드리게 하니라 [33] 이와 같이 저희가 여호와도 경외하고 또한 어디서부터 옮겨왔든지 그 민족의 풍속대로 자기의 신들도 섬겼더라 [34] 저희가 오늘까지 이전 풍속대로 행하여 여호와를 경외치 아니하며 또 여호와께서 이스라엘이라 이름을 주신 야곱의 자손에게 명하신 율례와 법도와 율법과 계명을 준행치 아니하는도다 [35] 옛적에 여호와께서 야곱의 자손에게 언약을 세우시고 저희에게 명하여 가라사대 너희는 다른 신을 경외하지 말며 그를 숭배하지 말며 그를 섬기지 말며 그에게 제사하지 말고 [36] 오직 큰 능력과 편 팔로 너희를 애굽에서 인도하여 낸 여호와만 너희가 경외하여 그를 숭배하며 그에게 제사를 드릴 것이며 [37] 또 여호와가 너희를 위하여 기록한 율례와 법도와 율법과 계명을 너희가 지켜 영원히 행하고 다른 신들을 경외치 말며 [38] 또 내가 너희와 세운 언약을 잊지 말며 다른 신들을 경외치 말고 [39] 오직 너희 하나님 여호와를 경외하라 그가 너희를 모든 원수의 손에서 건져내리라 하셨으나 [40] 그러나 저희가 듣지 아니하고 오히려 이전 풍속대로 행하였느니라 [41] 그 여러 민족이 여호와를 경외하고 또 그 아로새긴 우상을 섬기더니 그 자자 손손이 그 열조의 행한 것을 좇아 오늘까지 그대로 하니라
2Kgs.18 [1] In the third year of Hoshe'a son of Elah, king of Israel, Hezeki'ah the son of Ahaz, king of Judah, began to reign. [2] He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechari'ah. [3] And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done. [4] He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Ashe'rah. And he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the people of Israel had burned incense to it; it was called Nehush'tan. [5] He trusted in the LORD the God of Israel; so that there was none like him among all the kings of Judah after him, nor among those who were before him. [6] For he held fast to the LORD; he did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments which the LORD commanded Moses. [7] And the LORD was with him; wherever he went forth, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria, and would not serve him. [8] He smote the Philistines as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city. [9] In the fourth year of King Hezeki'ah, which was the seventh year of Hoshe'a son of Elah, king of Israel, Shalmane'ser king of Assyria came up against Sama'ria and besieged it [10] and at the end of three years he took it. In the sixth year of Hezeki'ah, which was the ninth year of Hoshe'a king of Israel, Sama'ria was taken. [11] The king of Assyria carried the Israelites away to Assyria, and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, [12] because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded; they neither listened nor obeyed. [13] In the fourteenth year of King Hezeki'ah Sennach'erib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them. [14] And Hezeki'ah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, "I have done wrong; withdraw from me; whatever you impose on me I will bear." And the king of Assyria required of Hezeki'ah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold. [15] And Hezeki'ah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasuries of the king's house. [16] At that time Hezeki'ah stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the doorposts which Hezeki'ah king of Judah had overlaid and gave it to the king of Assyria. [17] And the king of Assyria sent the Tartan, the Rab'saris, and the Rab'shakeh with a great army from Lachish to King Hezeki'ah at Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. When they arrived, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is on the highway to the Fuller's Field. [18] And when they called for the king, there came out to them Eli'akim the son of Hilki'ah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the secretary, and Jo'ah the son of Asaph, the recorder. [19] And the Rab'shakeh said to them, "Say to Hezeki'ah, `Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: On what do you rest this confidence of yours? [20] Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? On whom do you now rely, that you have rebelled against me? [21] Behold, you are relying now on Egypt, that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of any man who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who rely on him. [22] But if you say to me, "We rely on the LORD our God," is it not he whose high places and altars Hezeki'ah has removed, saying to Judah and to Jerusalem, "You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem"? [23] Come now, make a wager with my master the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders upon them. [24] How then can you repulse a single captain among the least of my master's servants, when you rely on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen? [25] Moreover, is it without the LORD that I have come up against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.'" [26] Then Eli'akim the son of Hilki'ah, and Shebnah, and Jo'ah, said to the Rab'shakeh, "Pray, speak to your servants in the Aramaic language, for we understand it; do not speak to us in the language of Judah within the hearing of the people who are on the wall." [27] But the Rab'shakeh said to them, "Has my master sent me to speak these words to your master and to you, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are doomed with you to eat their own dung and to drink their own urine?" [28] Then the Rab'shakeh stood and called out in a loud voice in the language of Judah: "Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria! [29] Thus says the king: `Do not let Hezeki'ah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you out of my hand. [30] Do not let Hezeki'ah make you to rely on the LORD by saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.' [31] Do not listen to Hezeki'ah; for thus says the king of Assyria: `Make your peace with me and come out to me; then every one of you will eat of his own vine, and every one of his own fig tree, and every one of you will drink the water of his own cistern; [32] until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and honey, that you may live, and not die. And do not listen to Hezeki'ah when he misleads you by saying, The LORD will deliver us. [33] Has any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? [34] Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharva'im, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Sama'ria out of my hand? [35] Who among all the gods of the countries have delivered their countries out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'" [36] But the people were silent and answered him not a word, for the king's command was, "Do not answer him." [37] Then Eli'akim the son of Hilki'ah, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and Jo'ah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came to Hezeki'ah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of the Rab'shakeh.	18 장 [1] 이스라엘 왕 엘라의 아들 호세아 삼년에 유다 왕 아하스의 아들 히스기야가 왕이 되니 [2] 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십 오세라 예루살렘에서 이십 구년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 아비라 스가리야의 딸이더라 [3] 히스기야가 그 조상 다윗의 모든 행위와 같이 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하여 [4] 여러 산당을 제하며 주상을 깨뜨리며 아세라 목상을 찍으며 모세가 만들었던 놋뱀을 이스라엘 자손이 이때까지 향하여 분향하므로 그것을 부수고 느후스단이라 일컬었더라 [5] 히스기야가 이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 의지하였는데 그의 전후 유다 여러 왕 중에 그러한 자가 없었으니 [6] 곧 저가 여호와께 연합하여 떠나지 아니하고 여호와께서 모세에게 명하신 계명을 지켰더라 [7] 여호와께서 저와 함께 하시매 저가 어디로 가든지 형통하였더라 저가 앗수르 왕을 배척하고 섬기지 아니하였고 [8] 블레셋 사람을 쳐서 가사와 그 사방에 이르고 망대에서부터 견고한 성까지 이르렀더라 [9] 히스기야왕 사년 곧 이스라엘 왕 엘라의 아들 호세아 칠년에 앗수르 왕 살만에셀이 사마리아로 올라와서 에워쌌더라 [10] 삼년후에 그 성이 함락되니 곧 히스기야의 육년이요 이스라엘 왕 호세아의 구년이라 사마리아가 함락되매 [11] 앗수르 왕이 이스라엘을 사로잡아 앗수르에 이르러 할라와 고산 하볼 하숫가와 메대 사람의 여러 성읍에 두었으니 [12] 이는 저희가 그 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 준행치 아니하고 그 언약을 배반하고 여호와의 종 모세의 모든 명한 것을 거스려 듣지도 아니하며 행치도 아니하였음이더라 [13] 히스기야왕 십 사년에 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 올라와서 유다 모든 견고한 성읍들을 쳐서 취하매 [14] 유다 왕 히스기야가 라기스로 보내어 앗수르 왕에게 이르되 내가 범죄하였나이다 나를 떠나 돌아가소서 왕이 내게 지우시는 것을 내가 당하리이다 하였더니 앗수르 왕이 곧 은 삼백 달란트와 금 삼십 달란트를 정하여 유다 왕 히스기야로 내게 한지라 [15] 히스기야가 이에 여호와의 전과 왕궁 곳간에 있는 은을 다 주었고 [16] 또 그때에 유다 왕 히스기야가 여호와의 전 문의 금과 자기가 모든 기둥에 입힌 금을 벗겨 모두 앗수르 왕에게 주었더라 [17] 앗수르 왕이 다르단과 랍사리스와 랍사게로 대군을 거느리고 라기스에서부터 예루살렘으로 가서 히스기야왕을 치게 하매 저희가 예루살렘으로 올라가니라 저희가 올라가서 윗못 수도 곁 곧 세탁자의 밭에 있는 큰 길에 이르러 서니라 [18] 저희가 왕을 부르매 힐기야의 아들 궁내대신 엘리야김과 서기관 셉나와 아삽의 아들 사관 요아가 저에게 나가니 [19] 랍사게가 저희에게 이르되 너희는 히스기야에게 고하라 대왕 앗수르 왕의 말씀이 너의 의뢰하는 이 의뢰가 무엇이냐 [20] 네가 싸울만한 계교와 용력이 있다고 한다마는 이는 입에 붙은 말 뿐이라 네가 이제 누구를 의뢰하고 나를 반역하였느냐 [21] 이제 네가 저 상한 갈대 지팡이 애굽을 의뢰하도다 사람이 그것을 의지하면 그 손에 찔려 들어갈지라 애굽 왕 바로는 무릇 의뢰하는 자에게 이와 같으니라 [22] 너희가 혹시 내게 이르기를 우리는 우리 하나님 여호와를 의뢰하노라 하리라마는 히스기야가 여호와의 산당과 제단을 제하고 유다와 예루살렘 사람에게 명하기를 예루살렘 이 단 앞에서만 숭배하라 하지 아니하였느냐 하셨나니 [23] 이제 너는 내 주 앗수르 왕과 내기하라 네가 만일 그 말 탈 사람을 낼 수 있다면 나는 네게 말 이천 필을 주리라 [24] 네가 어찌 내 주의 신복 중 지극히 작은 장관 하나인들 물리치며 애굽을 의뢰하고 그 병거와 기병을 얻을듯하냐 [25] 내가 어찌 여호와의 뜻이 아니고야 이제 이곳을 멸하러 올라왔겠느냐 여호와께서 전에 내게 이르시기를 이 땅으로 올라와서 쳐서 멸하라 하셨느니라 [26] 힐기야의 아들 엘리야김과 셉나와 요아가 랍사게에게 이르되 우리가 알아듣겠사오니 청컨대 아람 방언으로 당신의 종들에게 말씀하시고 성 위에 있는 백성의 듣는데 유다 방언으로 우리에게 말씀하지 마옵소서 [27] 랍사게가 저에게 이르되 내 주께서 네 주와 네게만 이 말을 하라고 나를 보내신 것이냐 성 위에 앉은 사람들로도 너희와 함께 자기의 대변을 먹게 하고 자기의 소변을 마시게 하신 것이 아니냐 하고 [28] 랍사게가 드디어 일어서서 유다 방언으로 크게 소리질러 불러 가로되 너희는 대왕 앗수르 왕의 말씀을 들으라 [29] 왕의 말씀이 너희는 히스기야에게 속지 말라 저가 너희를 내 손에서 건져내지 못하리라 [30] 또한 히스기야가 너희로 여호와를 의뢰하라 함을 듣지 말라 저가 이르기를 여호와께서 정녕 우리를 건지실지라 이 성이 앗수르 왕의 손에 함락되지 않게 하시리라 할지라도 [31] 너희는 히스기야의 말을 듣지 말라 앗수르 왕의 말씀이 너희는 내게 항복하고 내게로 나아오라 그리하고 너희는 각각 그 포도와 무화과를 먹고 또한 각각 자기의 우물의 물을 마시라 [32] 내가 장차 와서 너희를 한 지방으로 옮기리니 그곳은 너희 본토와 같은 지방 곧 곡식과 포도주가 있는 지방이요 떡과 포도원이 있는 지방이요 기름 나는 감람과 꿀이 있는 지방이라 너희가 살고 죽지 아니하리라 히스기야가 너희를 면려하여 이르기를 여호와께서 우리를 건지시리라 하여도 듣 라 [33] 열국의 신들 중에 그 땅을 앗수르 왕의 손에서 건진 자가 있느냐 [34] 하맛과 아르밧의 신들이 어디 있으며 스발와임과 헤나와 아와의 신들이 어디 있느냐 그들이 사마리아를 내 손에서 건졌느냐 [35] 열국의 모든 신중에 누가 그 땅을 내 손에서 건졌기에 여호와가 예루살렘을 내 손에서 능히 건지겠느냐 하셨느니라 [36] 그러나 백성이 잠잠하고 한 말도 대답지 아니하니 이는 왕이 명하여 대답하지 말라 하였음이라 [37] 이에 힐기야의 아들 궁내대신 엘리야김과 서기관 셉나와 아삽의 아들 사관 요아가 그 옷을 찢고 히스기야에게 나아가서 랍사게의 말을 고하니라
