What about a police officers?

°æÂû°üµéÀº ¾î¶²°¡?

Pro war advocates always like to compare the police officer with the soldier. But let us note the differences between the two.

The soldier has an  enemy who has been declared as such by the government he/she serves. This enemy may be guilty of no crime other than that of being born in a different country than the opposing soldier. The enemy may be man, woman, boy, girl, even infants. The soldier must kill the enemy and destroy their ability to wage war. This may include killing non combatants (such as the fire bombing of Dresden, or the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki), and the destruction of property not related to the war effort. The soldier may be called on to use weapons of mass destruction if the situation demands it. The soldier is under oath to fight and kill his/her fellow citizen if called upon to do so. A soldier is not held responsible for any lawfully order given by a superior during time of war. A soldier acts preemptively against the enemy in order to assure success. The soldier may act in such a way as to punish the enemy as a deterrent towards future action. The soldier wages war to gain territory, protect territories, and to assert its right on other nations.

The police officer has no enemies. He/she is charged with the duty to insure public safety and to enforce the law. The police are not to use excessive force of any kind  and to do otherwise will result in punitive actions. The police officer does not intently harm any innocent person, nor does he/she cause property damage if it can be helped. The police officer does not use weapons of mass destruction, nor do they act to punish those they arrest. A police officer helps to maintain order in a society. The finest police officer would be a pacifist. The pacifist would work towards peace by enforcing the law that is consistent with the peaceful manner of Christ. He/she could be depended on to apply only the amount of force necessary, and be depended upon to aid his/her fellow officers, and harbor no ill feelings towards those whom he/she must arrest.
