Wasn't it a "Just War" to stop Hitler?

히틀러를 저지한 것은 "정의의 전쟁"이 아니었는가?

     Every society has a way of producing its own monsters. Individuals, like Adolph Hitler, do not rise to power in a vacuum, rather they are placed in power via the passionate voice of their supporters. Hitler was voted into office. The people of Germany and of the Axis power cheered on their leader as they carried out their dreams of manifest destiny, at the great expense of others. Hitler is particularly loathed because of his systematic attempt to exterminate whole classes of people. Yet history reveals that Hitler was but one of many brutal dictator who had designs on conquering the world. The early American attempts to exterminate and displace American native Indians was no less evil yet we tend to forget that matter altogether.

     Human nature needs a object for our hatred. We need someone to blame for the horror and injustices that surround us. But, only God knows what makes a man into a monster. Is it nature, or is it nurture? But what made Adolph Hitler, and others, into megalomaniacs? Who is the blame? One can only guess. However, no one of us is an original creature. All of us is a composite of nature and nurture. When we point a finger at any one individual we must remember it points through him...to all the people and incidents that made him into the object he has become. However, our sinful nature demands that we have a name and a face for the object of our hatred.

     We have people like Adolph Hitler, and others, because they grow up in a society that indorsed violence as an ends to a mean. Adolph Hitler was a Roman Catholic and he knew the idea of the Just War Theory and, undoubtedly, used it to further his view of world conquest. He considered his war  to be right and just, and convinced those about him of such a fact to the degree they were to die to achieve the desired end. If  Roman Catholics were pacifistic and embraced non violence as an absolute, then Hitler would not have been able to use God as an excuse for war. If the Christians of Germany refused to bear arms against their neighbor...their never would have been an holocaust

     We cannot point to one historical moment and say "herein, it is all right to war." This is why it is better to say "I will never to go to war" than to say "I will sometimes go to war." Because as long as there is evil in the world there will be wars, and as long as there are wars one will find the excuse to participate in them. In the end, nations come and go, they always have and always will.

      We assume that we saved the world by resisting Adolph Hitler with force. Yet, history has always shown us that all oppressive governments eventually collapse, but sadly enough there is always another to takes its place.

     We have our Hitters because we are a violent people with religious traditions that endorse the use of violence. Until that changes there will arise another Hitler, who will gain the endorsement of the Church for his/her Just War, and millions will continue to die. It is the Christian that casts the deciding vote in this matter. If the Church returns to the teaching of Christ and the Apostles, then the evil of this world will be left without a Biblical basis for war, and without soldiers to fill the ranks.
