Doesn't God permit and sometimes send war?	하나님은 전쟁을 허용하고, 때때로 보내지 않는가?

Why would God "send war?" If it were God's intention to punish a "nation" is this not something He could do on His own? Remember, war is indiscriminate in its dealing of death. Innocents die in every war. Why is it we absolutely refuse to confess that war is a direct result of our lust to bathe in a sense of power and self righteousness? Why is it we cannot understand that pacifism is strength and militarism is weakness? Does God send AIDS, polio, arthritis, Alzheimer's, and toothaches to punish the wicked? Of course not. Then why would we think God would send wars to punish nations? We think this way because we confuse violence with manhood, and the pain of others with justice. We do not need clearer scriptures, we need better teachers. Does God permit war? We say that as if we expect God to roll back His law of cause and effect simply because we do not like the effect. War is a result of sin and human depravity. God does not intervene in any of our wicked activity, why should we expect Him to intervene in our lust to violence. He warns us that to "live by the sword, is to die by the sword," is that not enough? Do we not understand the history we ourselves have written? Have we forgotten the horror of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Yet, we have seen nothing yet. We have yet to unleash our thermonuclear, neutron, biological and chemical agents on populated cities. Do we really wish that God is somehow involved in this madness? No, we are on our own. Then why does not God stop war? Why don't you stop it. You may not be able to stop a war but you can stop warring. War is communal madness and when one single person says "no more" the warring community loses a bit of its strength. When ten thousand, or a hundred thousand say "no more," the tide begins to change in favor of peace. Nearly all cases for the Just War Theory, holy wars, and crusades are based either on philosophical arguments or upon the Old Testament. We have forgotten the fact that the New Testament came after the Old Testament and not the other way around. The New Testament is God's "New Covenant" of "New Agreement" with mankind. Jesus said we can commit murder and adultery just by thinking of it in our hearts. Jesus brought to us a new relationship with God that is achieved through faith and not of works. He brought a new morality, one based on love for our enemy to the same degree as love of neighbor and of self. He supplanted the old with the new. No longer are we to trade eye for eye or tooth for tooth, this only results in failure. We all agree that God demanded the fulfillment of the Law of Deuteronomy in order that we may understand that works cannot bring us any closer to God. Now, it is a matter of fact and not of theory. For three thousand years the people of God tried to be holy before God through ceremony and ritual and met with failure. It was when God became flesh and dwelt among men that we saw that right relationship with God can only be accomplished through faith. Likewise, God taught the folly of war over these same three thousand years yet we have yet to learn our lesson. The teaching of Jesus on loving your enemies is just as clear as His teachings on faith as opposed to works. But, we heartily embrace faith but have rejected peace in order that we may continue to follow the disastrous pattern of the Israelites. It has been said that "The only thing we learn from history, is that we fail to learn anything from history." The majority of Christians remember from their Bible studies how the Hebrew people were triumphant at Jericho, and their battles with the Canaanites, Philistines and others.
